Dry Yeast Volcano

Experiments & Chemical Reactions

ExperimentsDry yeast volcano is a fun to do experiment. However, volcanoes are dangerous. Even at a distance of several kilometers we can feel the heat of those burning lava. Let us make some simple and interesting volcano with dry yeast. Please do this experiment under the supervision of an adult.

Try it yourself

You need:

  1. Hydrogen peroxide
  2. Liquid detergent
  3. Food color of your choice (I would suggest orange and red)
  4. 1 teaspoon yeast dissolved in warm water
  5. A laboratory flask

Please do this experiment only under the supervision of an adult.

What next?

Step 1: Pour in ½ a cup of hydrogen peroxide into the flask.

Step 2: Add one or two teaspoons of liquid dishwasher to it and mix.

Step 3: Add your choice of food color to it.

Step 4: Now add your yeast mixture to the flask and you will experience the foamy volcano.

Logic:

When performing dry yeast volcano, the yeast will act as a catalyst in releasing oxygen from hydrogen peroxide. You can find hydrogen peroxide at your nearby chemist. There are more fun to do experiments in our experiments section here.
