Fill a Balloon Using Warm Air

Fill a Balloon

Fill a BalloonFill a Balloon Using Warm Air is a simple science experiment that demonstrates one of the major properties of air. We know that hot air expands. In this experiment we are just doing the same thing.

This experiment uses hot water (or heating of water). Please execute this experiment only under the supervision of an adult.

Try it yourself

You need:

  1. Water
  2. Balloon
  3. Bottle
  4. Saucepan
  5. Heater

What next?

Step 1: Pour water into the sauce pan and heat it.

Step 2: Put the balloon on the mouth of the bottle.

Step 3: Take the saucepan away from the heater.

Step 4: Keep the bottle, with the balloon attached to its mouth, inside the hot water.

You will see that the balloon inflates all by itself.

Logic:

Logic of ‘Fill a Balloon Using Warm Air’: Just nothing more than the hot air expands. As the hot expands, it escapes from the bottle and fills the balloon. Learn about the properties of air here.
