Floating Letters experiment seemed amazing and simple as I saw it first time in a video. When I tried it myself, it was really fun. We are trying to get the letters out from M&M chocolates and let them free float in the water. Let’s try this simple experiment.
Try it yourself
- A bowl
- Few M&Ms
Step 1: Take a few M&Ms and drop them into the bowl. Keep the M&Ms upward that the letters are facing up.
Step 2: Now pour in water slowly (make sure that the M&Ms do not turn reverse). M&Ms must be completely covered inside the water.
You will see that the chocolate colors melt into water. After some more time the letters on M&Ms will start floating up.
This is because the sugar in the chocolate coatings is dissolved by water but the letters are not made with the same substance. The letters are made with edible paper which doesn’t dissolve in water. As the sugar melts away, letters lose their grip and floats.
