Fruits Battery | Electricity Science Project

In ‘Make fire from a lemon experiment we have seen that lemon as a fruit can produce electricity. Let’s see whether all fruits have this capability or is it only lemon. So, are you ready for making a fruits battery in our electricity science project?

Project Questions:

  1. Can lemon produce electricity?
  2. Can other fruits produce electricity as lemon does?
  3. Which fruit (from the selected fruits) produce most electricity?

Things that you need:

  1. Fruits of selection – banana, potato, lemon, tomato, mango, and cucumber
  2. Zinc nails – 6 in number
  3. Copper clips – 6 in number
  4. A digital multimeter
  5. Project data card

Procedure (Electricity Science Project):

Step 1: Take first the lemon in between your palms and soften it up by rubbing it.

Step 2: Pierce in the copper clips to one side of the lemon in a straight line with less than a centimeter gap.

Step 3: Do the same thing with the zinc nails, parallel to the line of copper clips.

Step 4: Make sure that the nails or the clips don’t touch each other.

Step 5: Now using the digital multimeter (connecting to the two wires at its free ends) measure the voltage. Record the voltage observation on the Project data chart.
