We know that the Earth is one of the planets of the Sun. It is positioned after Venus and before mars in our solar system. The Earth and most other planets of the Sun, and the Sun itself are spherical in shape. Why is earth round or spherical in shape? The reasons behind Earth’s spherical shape are discussing below:
Earth has a spherical shape because of its gravity. When the gravitational force is tiny, the object may not have the ability to get into the most effective shape – spherical shape. Objects like asteroids and some of the satellites of other planets lack spherical shape because they also lack gravitational force. This does not mean that they do not have any gravitational force, but the gravitational force they have is insufficient to bring them into a spherical shape.
It is estimated that the objects larger than almost 1000 kilometers in diameter are able to get themselves into spherical shape. In fact, it is also one of the requirements decided by the International Astronomical Union in 2006, for considering an object as a planet. Hence, all the objects that orbits around the sun is spherical in shape, and the sun which is much massive than the other planets, no doubt will also have a spherical shape.
