Puncture Proof Balloon Experiment

Puncture Proof Balloon

Hey! Balloons are always fun but what is this puncture proof balloon? Well, the balloons are not pop proof by itself. If you try piercing a pin on the balloon you will notice that your balloon bursts. How can we pierce a pin into a blown up balloon? Our puncture proof balloon experiment will teach you how?

Try it yourself

You need:

  1. Balloons
  2. Needles/pins
  3. Sellotape
  4. Soap bar

What next?

Step 1: Take one of the balloons and tie it up to secure air within.

Step 2: Use a needle/pin and try poking into the balloon. You will see that the balloon pops.

Step 3: Take a small strip of sellotape and stick it on the balloon.

Step 4: Now try piercing a needle/pin. Pierce the pin only through the surface where the sellotape is stuck.

You will see that the balloon is intact and the needle/pin pierces in.

Step 5: Now take another balloon and repeat the steps. this time do not use sellotape but wet the soap and apply it on the balloon. Piercing of needle/pin should be through the surface where soap is applied.

You will see that the balloon is still intact.
